I am incredibly disappointed with the lack of basic customer service and common sense at the Michigan Road location. When my husband and I first signed up at Castleton, we were incorrectly told I had to get my own separate account. Because we don't live close to a warehouse, we rarely go—making us the ideal profitable customer for Costco, since they make their money on membership fees, not the products they sell close to cost. Today, I went to the Michigan Road store to get supplies for my baby’s 1st birthday party. After spending an hour shopping and filling my cart, I was denied at checkout because I was using my husband's card. My driver's license clearly matches the physical address on our account, but because we don't share a last name, the cashier and the manager refused the transaction. The manager was incredibly smug and offered absolutely zero helpful alternatives or conflict resolution—such as letting me add my name to the household account on the spot. Furthermore, if they are going to be this strict at the register, they should have flagged it at the front door when they checked my card, rather than letting me waste an hour of my day shopping just to humiliate me at checkout. We would have gone on paying for our membership for years while barely costing them a dime in inventory, but due to this manager's complete lack of empathy and helpfulness, we are canceling our membership entirely. Unbelievably poor service for a milestone family event.

This is our family’s favorite Costco. We live downtown and pretty equidistant between this one, castleton, and Greenwood. We ALWAYS end up here. We’ve ordered platters from here, sometimes we come just to walk around with our kids and get lunch in the food court… We bring my grandma here just for fun. It’s truly a family affair at Costco - The checkout people are always so nice to my kiddos too. We also had an experience recently where I ordered platters and had to change the dates for pick up because of an event change with a snowstorm. Their employee Beth was so helpful and helpful making sure that everything was handled over the phone. She even called me personally to make sure that I understood what was going on and that everything was taken care of. I thought that was really nice and it was so helpful and saved me a trip to the store which is about 30 minutes from my house. I will never not love this store.

Recently bought an upright freezer for the garage, which I loaded from the store and brought home myself. Upon opening i noticed what appeared to be fork truck damage. I had to return the freezer, nobody helped me unload. They had 3 in stock when I bought it 2 days ago and were out. They told me the only store in stock was 35 minutes away. I had to be responsible for all logistics, handling, and packaging with no compensation. This is poor customer service and my business does not assist to be valued.

This Costco gets a lot of traffic. Each time we have visited it is busy. The customers are nice and the employees are helpful. We normally visit once a month to check out what they have. We walk every aisle just for the steps. We also leave with their hotdog and soda deal for $1.50. I took these photos to share with a couple people, so might as well share here too. Last year we got one of their king sized fleece blankets and it's still the household favorite.

NEVER SIGN UP FOR THE CREDIT CARD. They sold me the credit card and executive membership. Totally hosed my account up. No shop card. Just awful. So incompetent. Now I have to get rid of a credit card and get a refund on a membership. It's taken them over a month to begin to straighten this out. It's absurd.
