Costco at CalExpo is one of the many Costco Wholesale locations in the Sacramento area. The store is one of the older design stores with the food court in the outdoor area in front of the main entrance. The store itself is the same as most of the Costco stores. Clean, well-lit, good layout, and friendly employees. The gas station at this location just rearranged the entrance with a much better waiting area for gasoline.

The Costco truly impressed me today. Even during a busy afternoon, the staff remained calm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. One employee helped me compare different vitamin brands without rushing me, and the sample team added a bit of fun to the trip. The store felt organized and well stocked, making the experience smooth from start to finish.

Great Costco experience so far! I honestly haven’t had a bad visit yet. The only real challenge is parking—this location is clearly very popular and almost always busy. Surprisingly though, checkout moves pretty quickly, especially with the express checkout lanes. The Fremont Costco used to have staff pre-scan items which made things even faster, and I do miss that a little, but overall we’ve still been very happy with this Sacramento Costco.

I am very disappointed by the treatment I received at Costco while picking up my glasses. During my visit, I decided to also purchase a swimming pool for my grandkids. I asked an employee where the pools were located, and he kindly pointed me toward the front of the store where the managers and supervisors were. When I approached the manager, whom I’ve encountered on previous visits, I asked if there were any smaller pools available. Right away, her attitude was cold and dismissive. She looked them up and found a couple of options, and when I asked the price, she told me they were $50. The price was never the issue—it was the way I was treated. What stood out to me was that before interacting with me, I observed this same manager being pleasant and kind to other customers. However, her demeanor completely changed when speaking to me. As an African-American woman, that difference in treatment was hard to ignore. I don’t know if it was because of my appearance, including my locs, but this is not the first time I have felt singled out and treated rudely by this same manager. What makes this even more disappointing is that this behavior came from a manager—someone in a leadership position who should be setting the standard for professionalism, respect, and customer service. Managers are meant to lead by example, and unfortunately, that was not my experience. Costco serves a diverse community, and every customer deserves to be treated with respect and courtesy. Repeated negative experiences with the same manager are concerning, and I hope better customer service training is provided so no one else feels unwelcome or disrespected while shopping.

"I can't imagine my household without Costco ! The convenience, value, and quality keep me coming back time and time again. Whether it's stocking up on pantry essentials, finding great deals on clothing and household items, or enjoying the delicious food court offerings, Costco has it all. The gas station with competitive prices is an added bonus. Shopping here is always a pleasure, and I highly recommend it to everyone."
