I usually love Costco. Even though they do stupid things sometimes. The latest is absolutely ridiculous. We weren't allowed to use self checkout, despite it being empty and staffed by 5 costco employees. My roommate and I come together in one car and use on cart, two memberships. But, we were turned away from the empty self checkout because we used one cart and had more than 15 items. A new unwritten rule they said was just by word of mouth. I had 15 items, he had 11. Still, the new rule is one customer per cart. So, they want us coming in separate cars and using separate carts now? So. fricking ridiculous. I'm definitely going to shop here less and count my items to keep it under 15, and have separate carts, taking up extra room in the store because of this insane rule.

I recently visited this Costco location and overall had a very positive experience. Like most Costco warehouses, this store offers a great selection of products at competitive prices. From groceries and fresh produce to electronics, household items, and seasonal products, you can find almost everything you need in one place. The store is well organized, making it fairly easy to navigate even though it can get busy at times. One thing I really appreciate about this location is how clean and well maintained it is. The aisles are wide and stocked well, and the staff are friendly and helpful when you need assistance. The checkout process also moves surprisingly quickly, even when the store is crowded, which is always a plus. The food court is another highlight — it’s always nice to grab a quick and affordable slice of pizza or a hot dog after shopping.

I love Costco and was really excited when this Costco opened up. I don't know what happened starting this year (2026), but their customer service has really gone down hill. It started in the self checkout lanes, while waiting to check out for about 10 minutes an employee came up to me and said it was 10 items or less only. This has never been the case. And I asked where the signage was that said this, he smirked (very sarcastically) "its word of mouth" and walked away. He directed me to go get in the back of the manned registers. All those lines were packed and self checkout was empty with like 6 employees standing around. The self checkout employee also told me it was only one member per shopping cart (my roommate and I shop together, each having our own Executive Membership) and once again no signage verifying this change of store policy. I decided to shop at different Costcos to see if this was a company policy. Surprise, it was not. I talked to store workers at the South Sacramento, Elk Grove, Expo, Roseville, Woodland, and Lodi stores, and none have the 10 items or less in self checkout or only one member per cart rules. And, those associates were friendly, kind and helpful, unlike the associates at the Natomas store with their snide and rude remarks. I will not be shopping at the Natomas Costco anymore. My roommate and I usually shop once a week, and are more than happy to drive 5 to 10 miles out of our way to avoid the rude associates and random made up rules that the Natomas store does. Customer service classes teach us, someone who has a good experience will usually tell 3 to 5 people. Someone who has a bad experience will tell 10+. I am attaching photos of the packed store and empty self checkout lanes that I discussed in the beginning of my review. I tried to find a contact email on the Costco customer service website, but they don't have one. So this will have to do.

ALWAYS! ALWAYS have what I need! I usually shop at the Costco in Woodland and because ot is a smaller unit, doesn't always have what I need. To its credit, very rarely do they not have what I need. But today, this location saved my butt! I needed all the proteins in the photo and Costco on Commerce had it all amd more! Thanks!
