Costco Pharmacy on Gateway has some of the rudest, most unprofessional staff I’ve encountered in a long time. I went to pick up a prescription that had already been called in for me and was sent to three different lines before anyone could even locate it. By the time I got to the third line, I had to speak directly with the pharmacist just to ask what generic medication I could use temporarily, because the person in line number two told me it would take at least a week to order the prescription. Ironically, the pharmacist immediately found the prescription but then proceeded to criticize the doctor’s recommendation and claimed it wasn’t covered by my insurance. She then said if I “really wanted it,” she could order it and have it by the next day. I said yes. The next day I waited for the confirmation that it was ready — which never came. When I checked online, it clearly showed the prescription was ready and already paid for, so I even called to double-check before going in. When I arrived, I was told I couldn’t pick it up because I didn’t have a QR code — the QR code that was never sent to me. I showed the employee the online status that said it was ready. I showed her the receipt proving it had already been paid for. Instead of helping, she kept arguing and asking “what’s the point?” and refused to even look for the prescription. After standing there for about five minutes, she finally said “fine,” turned around, and immediately handed me the prescription — proving it had been there the entire time. If the staff hates their jobs this much, they should work somewhere else. Customers shouldn’t have to deal with this level of attitude, incompetence, and unnecessary hassle just to pick up a prescription. Absolutely do not recommend

For travel medicine, Costco was reliable, quick, and inexpensive compared to competitors. In the age where local doctors are inaccessible with months-long appt waits, I was grateful for the Costco travel medicine team that prepared me for my trip and set me up at this pharmacy within a few days. Pharmacist Amy and her team are super helpful, patient, and friendly.

I would give a negative amount of stars if I could. My vet’s office called in a prescription for my dog, Maggie, for some antibiotics. Maggie recently had a toe amputated and another round of antibiotics was needed. Instead of driving all the way to the vet’s office, I asked them to call them in to the Costco that I work by. They called them in shortly after the pharmacy opened. At 1:25 pm PST I called to make sure they were ready for pick up. I was told they were never called in. I called my vet’s office to confirm and that’s when they told me they left the prescription information on the pharmacy voicemail. I called the pharmacy back and explained that to her. She put me on hold for about a minute and came back on the line and said, “we don’t have time to check the voicemail so we’ll get to it when we can”. That is completely unacceptable. They didn’t have time? What on earth were doing? I asked to speak with a manager and got Amy on the phone. She was a bit more pleasant and apologized but basically was doing her best to get me off the phone as soon as possible so they could close for lunch. I have never in my entire life been told by a pharmacy that they were “too busy” to fill my prescription. What if this would have been a lifesaving medication that was needed? This is not ok, and I feel like some sort of training needs to be in place at this location. I understand if you’re short staffed and there is a delay but to tell a customer that they are TOO BUSY to get your medication ready is completely and totally UNACCEPTABLE. Both of these ladies, the gal that answered the phone whose name I did not catch, and Amy the so-called manager, maybe need to get into a different line of work if they cannot be professional and have some sort of work ethic and compassion. I wasn’t going there to get a hot dog! I was in need of medication for my pet.

Dumbfounded by the utter incompetence of this “pharmacy”! They don’t know how their auto refill works so medication will be arbitrarily refilled. The staff are complacent at best and nonverbal communicators on every day I’ve been there. Still trying to figure out what their job is, besides messing up prescriptions

My dog, Duke, developed seizures a few months ago that REQUIRE medication to keep under control. Very timed administrations, at that. I went to Costco to pick up Duke’s seizure refill on Friday but they didn’t have enough for the entire prescription, so the kind lady gave me a few days worth until they got more in. Today, Monday, I went back to pick it up (it was $85.87 last month), and they charged me $129. I thought it was off, but what could I do...when I went to pay, I realized I forgot my debit card (which is all Costco takes), so I asked if I could just have 3 pills (24 hrs worth) and get the rest tomorrow so that Duke can have his medication tonight and not have to deal with seizures. Although the lady wanted to help, the men behind the counter declined and one went as far as to say “how much cash do you have on you? Then we can see how many pills we can give you” uhm...really?????? So I said “well, more importantly, how did you get a 40% price increase within a month and not have the decency to let me know?” He said “the previous manufacturer isn’t sending to Costco currently, it’s out of our hands.” The price increase might be out of their hands, but they should have an ethical duty to warn consumers. Anyways, it was overall appalling, especially being asked how much cash I had on me (none, by the way). So I left with no seizure medication for Duke and am taking my business elsewhere! I was extremely disappointed with their customer service and lack of empathy. Please think twice before choosing their pharmacy.
